A BLOODY weekend has resulted in six killings in separate incidents in the Corporate Area, St. James, and St. Thomas, and three policemen shot and injured in the line of duty.
Two of those listed were killed in alleged shoot-outs with the police.
Yesterday Robert Pinnock, 37-year-old proprietor of Reduce Centre Supermarket at Ken Hill Drive, Pembrooke Hall, Kingston 20, was shot and killed during a robbery at his business place. Police reports say two men posing as customers entered the establishment at around 12:50 p.m. and demanded money. When their demand was not met one of them fired hitting Pinnock in the left breast. The men then robbed the supermarket of an undetermined sum.
An unidentified man was shot dead by unknown assailants at Berwick Road, Kingston 13 yesterday.
In St. James, 40-year-old businessman Duke Reece, of Norwood Drive, Montego Bay, was shot and killed by gunmen Saturday night. Police reports say Reece, accompanied by his wife, was alighting from the vehicle at his gate when gunmen opened fire on him.
Meantime, a man identified only as "Vicious" about 28 years old, was shot and killed after he reportedly engaged the police in a shoot-out along Whitehall Avenue, Kingston 8, Sunday morning.
The police also say another shoot-out in St. Thomas, took the life of 21-year-old Shaun Byfield along the Lyssons main road in the parish. Byfield, who is of Christopher Road, Kingston 13 was said to be in St.Thomas attending the his friend's wedding. A policeman, 32-year-old Constable Noel Johnson was shot and injured during the incident.
Two other policemen were shot and injured by gunmen in separate incidents in the Corporate Area Saturday. They have been identified as Constables Seymour Brown attached to the Duhaney Park Police Station and Steve Bowen attached to Kingston Central.
