Praising Mrs Gloria Robinson

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WISH to bring to your attention, the tardy attitude of the leaders of this country to recognise individuals who have and continue to give outstanding service to the poor and needy of this country.

Mrs. Gloria Robinson, JP, affectionately called Miss Robbie, cannot be matched by anyone that I know, who has done voluntary service for over 60 years to the extent that she does.

She should be awarded with the country's highest honour while she is alive.

Most persons in Jamaica must by now have heard of this lady. She is a mother to all, especially the needy and the sick whom she has provided motherly love, housing, food, clothing among other things, with the help of individuals and donor organisations. If you visit her home, it is like a little village. It has several homes for the needy and sick, fish pond, school and a soup kitchen.

She has been given recognition by all service clubs, businesses and other agencies locally and abroad, but to date the government has turned a 'blind eye' on granting her recognition at the highest level.

I am, etc.,
