THIS IS in response to the question posed in last week's Flair Magazine, Where are all the good men?, by Fiona Miller.
Hmmm, she asked, where are the good men these days? I'm here to tell her and all the women of Jamaica that the good men are still here and looking for the good women but we are being passed over because we're too nice for her, or plain and simple just too soft.
I am a Christian young man who has his eyes on God and I am also looking for a woman whom I can someday call my wife. That, my dear, is the natural progression of life. It's hard for me, as a young man brought up by both parents to respect women, open doors, let them proceed before me "when it applies", to be left standing holding the door while she moves on her merry way with not even a look of gratitude much less a thank you.
Since you want to get into behavioural patterns, let's start with exactly what some Jamaican women really want. Most are really not looking for us (the good guys) but are looking for a man who can show them off, buy them expensive gifts and take them places in the coveted sports car or van (the man with the Bling Bling). Most women aren't looking for a husband, what they are looking for is a baby father who will provide for them and the children then leaves at the end of the day so you can move on to the next client.
So wherever you're looking to find the right guy it must not be in the right places as I, and I'm sure many other good young men out there, am still single and looking for that special someone to love and to be loved in return.
What's on your mind? Tell us and we'll publish it in this space we've created especially for you. It could be a quirky observation or a serious note, we only ask that you keep it to about 350 words (include a recent photograph and a phone number or an address). We also welcome your letters.
