The Government has accorded an official funeral to Theodore Sealy, former editor-in-chief of The Gleaner publications who died last Monday at age 91.
The service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Providence Methodist Church, Liguanea, St. Andrew.
Mr. Sealy, who served The Gleaner in various positions for nearly 50 years, has been recognised for his contribution not just to the field of journalism, but to national development. He was appointed to The Gleaner board in 1971 and made editor emeritus in 1987.
He was also recognised for his work as chairman of the Jamaica Tercentenary Celebra-tions in 1955, and served on a number of committees for the selection of the country's national symbols at Indepen-dence in 1962.
Mr. Sealy received numerous awards during his lifetime.
