Grace Thrillers singer dies after crash

RUSHELL JOHNSON, the 29-year-old lead singer of the Grace Thrillers gospel group, died yesterday morning in the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) from injuries sustained in a motor accident on Thursday night along the Spanish Town Bypass.

"She succumbed about 8:35 (yesterday) morning," Woman Constable Dahlia Garrick, of the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) told The Sunday Gleaner yesterday.

She became the second victim of that fatal accident. Nakia Fray, 17, of Westminister Avenue, Horizon Park, St. Cath-erine died on Thursday.

A 36-year-old man, Radcliffe Dean, of Christian Lane, King-ston 11, was charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol. He is scheduled to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court tomorrow.

Reports are that about 8:55 p.m. Mr. Dean was driving an Isuzu motor truck towards Kingston. On reaching about 200 metres from the Jose Marti round-about, he reportedly overtook a line of traffic and lost control of the vehicle which crashed into a Leyland truck and a Toyota Corolla motor car.

Six persons in the Toyota Corolla motor car and the Isuzu sustained injuries. Miss Fray died on the spot. The five other persons who received injuries, including Ms. Johnson, were taken to hospital for treatment.
