T&T dismiss Jamaica

JAMAICA got off to a poor start at the Caribbean Women's Cricket Championship yesterday when they lost to Trinidad and Tobago by eight wickets in St. Vincent.

The Jamaicans reached 169 for four off their 50 overs with Rita Scott top scoring with 70 and Jacqueline Robinson finishing unbeaten on 56.

However, Trinidad knocked off the total with ease making 170 for two off 39.3 overs. Shane DaSilva was 45 not out and Nelly Williams was also undefeated on 25. Brenda Solonzo scored 32.

In other games, defending champions St. Lucia defeated Dominica by eight wickets while Jenille Grave made a century as hosts St. Vincent crushed Guyana by 185 runs.

Dominica closed on 199 for eight with Shonta Graham making 33 and Lucille Frank 29. St. Lucia's Leona Vitte and West Indies representative Lorna Vitalis took 2-21 and 2-46 respectively.

In reply, St. Lucia made 200 for two off 34.3 overs. Rosalyn Emmanuel top scored with 89. Eugenia Gregg supported her with a knock of 45 not out.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines reached a whopping 318 for seven in their 50 overs and then bundled out Guyana for 133.

Grave made 134 and claimed 4-28.
