'Sweethearts' launch new CD

FROM 107 Constant Spring Road, sprang forth life as "Sweethearts of Gospel", Robert and Jenieve Bailey launched their sixth album at Life Productions. The new CD Even Me is a remake of traditional songs, but there are songs to which the couple might have added additional lines and/or bridges.

The CD's launch took the form of a concert, and, for those who stopped in to be refreshed, there were treats from other sensations such as Noretta Lewis, WORD, Hummingbird representatives and 10-year-old Shelly Ann Brown. The concert was also aired live.

Even Me is the name of the new CD by the Baileys and from the songs they rendered it promises to be more than entertainment.

Of the 12 songs recorded on the track, the couple shared four songs including the aleady crowd favourite Even Me, as the title of the CD indicates. With its catchy Latin beat the song is presented with a Spanish version and seeks God for blessings to fall on Even Me. It has newly-written lines "Cause your face to shine on me, and let your blessings fall on me. Even me, Let your drops fall on me."

Rising to the occasion in the celebratory month for mothers everywhere, Jenieve, a mother herself, travailed for more than her birth child. In her travail onstage for the souls of many, the intercessory woman added new meaning to the eleventh track on the CD -- Shady Green Pastures, rendered in Rock and Roll.

While the album offers a rich range of traditional classical flavours, there are songs with an infectious Latin and Jazzy Blues rhythms.

The songs, says the duo, were birthed from "much prayer and fasting." "You can't do anything without going to Jesus," said a proud Jenieve.

Specially invited guests included Che Cowan, Glory Music; Pastor Marston Thomas, president, Adventist Laymen Services and Industries; Jenny Small, "The Jenny Jenny Show; Pastor Michael Henry, director, Youth and Music, Central Jamaica Conference.
