Sexual harassment at work

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I am writing this letter to encourage all females who are being harassed in the workplace to keep the faith.

I suggest that all such persons go down on their knees and fast and pray constantly, and ask God to intervene, so as to allow a legislation on sexual harassment to be passed in Parliament.

I realise that the issue is not seriously being handled in Jamaica, as many of the offenders are top managers, and the human resources personnel or other top managers are afraid to expose such persons, fearing that they may lose a vital person in their companies.

I am glad that someone has finally thought about putting this matter before Parliament. I do not know if the Lord is using this person as a vessel to fight this cause, but she needs help.

I am calling on all my Jamaican sisters who are being harassed to speak out. It demoralises and affects you psychologically on the job, you feel as if you brought it on to yourself, as a result you have low self-esteem.

I am, etc.,

CONCERNED EMPLOYEE
