Molynes, Jetsetters in final

MOLYNES B and Jetsetters C will meet in the final of the Credit Union Junior netball league after registering close wins in their respective semifinal games at the Leila Robinson courts on Saturday.

The final will be played on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the same venue. In a curtain-raiser Duhaney Strikers and Millennium Strikers will compete for third and fourth places in the play-off scheduled to get underway at 5:30.

Molynes B held off a spirited challenge from Duhaney Strikers to record a come-from-behind 27-24 win.

Both teams were level at 7-7 at the end of the first quarter but the lead changed hands until Molynes took a 14-12 lead at half time.

Applying defensive tactics, Duhaney Strikers rallied and led 20-19 at the end of the first quarter, but Duhaney Strikers looked more determined to win, equalised and applied pressure until they were three goals clear.

In the second semi-final Jetsetters C stopped Millennium Strikers 29-27.

Jetsetters trailed 6-8 at the end of the first quarter, but at half time were in charge at 15-12. At the end of the third period they still held the lead, with the score then at 22-19.

In addition to the junior semifinals, one Western Union Intermediate and six Berger Senior League games were also played.

Jetsetters B outplayed Alpha 41-17.

The quarter-final round of this competition starts on May 1.

In Berger action, defending champions Waulgrovians "A" stretched their unbeaten win record to seven when they strapped Jetsetters A 61-32. Jamalco defeated Police A 49-33, Omega handed Port Esquivel their first defeat after winning 52-40, Eden Strikers A registered their first win of the season after beating Hampshire A 43-35, Blades A edged Ebony Strikers A 36-33 while Tivoli A bettered Seneca A 47-39.
