Freeman, Ottey back on track

Freeman and Ottey

NEW YORK, CANA-Reuters -

JAMAICA'S sprint veteran Merlene Ottey and Michelle Freeman along with Bahamian Olympic sprint relay gold medallist Chandra Sturrup, are listed to appear at the Millrose Games tonight.

Ottey and Sturrup will clash in the women's 60 metres, while Freeman defends her 60-metre hurdles title.

The women's 60 features American Chryste Gaines, Sturrup, and Ottey, winner of eight medals in six Olympic Games.

Freeman, bothered by injury which left her missing the Olympic final in Sydney, will seek her fourth consecutive Millrose title when she comes up against Sydney bronze medallist Melissa Morrison.

The men's 60m includes Olympic sprinters John Capel, Curtis Johnson, and Bernard Williams (the Pan Am Games champion), and two-time US indoor champion Tim Harden.

The men's 60m hurdles field includes American Terrance Trammell, a surprise silver medallist in Sydney.

Millrose's fabled Wanamaker Mile features its best field in recent memory. Sydney Olympic 1,500m bronze medallist Bernhard Lagat of Kenya will face the past two Wanamaker winners, Irishman Mark Carroll and Kenyan Laban Rotich.
