  • Poor weather blocks Kronic

    Rising DJ Kronic got the chance of his life recently when he went on a mini tour of New York. The DJ performed in Brooklyn and had other engagments in New Jersey and Florida which had to be cancelled because of poor weather and other factors.

    Kronic says he is now ready to release the video for his current single Original Lick. The video is scheduled for release this week. It was directed by Jackie Haughton of TVJ. Work is being done on his debut album, for which he has completed seven tracks.

  • Bedroom rhythm causing a stir

    The Bedroom rhythm by new producer Preston Onfroy is creating a stir in dancehall circles. The smooth rhythm has already spawned the radio hit, Robbery by hot newcomer Bling Dawg.

    "The song looks inside the criminal mind of a ghetto yute as he sees possible avenues for quick money, but he contemplates the odds of nearby policemen and soldiers with SLRs and how the odds are against him," Onroy told Showbiz. The rhythm also features Capleton on How Dem So Hype?, Bounty Killer with Fortune, Madd Anju with Mi Best Friend's Girl and Cecile with Goodtime on the Intime Music label.


    Splicer

  • Splicer releases single

    Splicer, who just returned from a brief promotional stint in the United States, is eyeing the prize in 2001.

    "The video for the single,Sweet Baby Girl was released last weekend and the sale of the single is reportedly doing well in the U.S. I am doing some work for Paul Castick and a 'wicked' thing with ARP which we will use to rock the world," Splicer said.

    He is also working with Power Mix Records.

  • Pay-per-view concert

    Controversial rapper Eminem will present his case to the people with a pay-per-view concert on February 17. The show, to be taped January 20 in Los Angeles, will mark the first nationally televised full-length concert performance by the hip-hop star. The programme, presented by In Demand, will also feature a set by Eminem's side-project, D-12.

    The Marshall Mathers LP has been named in the best album category, while Stan made the cut as one of the best singles.


    Monster Twins

  • DJ Ringo receiving media attention

    The upcoming deejay duo Monster Twins consists of Kevin Miller aka 'Ringo Kid' (son of veteran deejay Johny Ringo) and Greg Campbell a.k.a 'Fat Head'. They've been getting a lot of attention from radio with their soon to be released single 'Gal' which was recorded for top flight producer Richard 'Shams' Browne for his Call Me Shams label.

    Other artistes include Chico, Alozade, TOK and Frisco Kid.

    The duo has also recorded songs for other labels such as Work Wid It (Shines), Spellings (THUG Label) and Fi Di Betta done in tandem with General B (Monster Shack Label).

    Fresh from performances in the United States, Monster Twins are now looking forward to completing more recordings for several other labels, as well as appearing some of the upcoming major showslocal and abroad.

  • Ice's night in jail

    Rapper Vanilla Ice spent the night in jail Wednesday after being arrested following a domestic dispute.

    Vanilla Ice, who in 1990 sold 15 million copies of the single Ice, Ice Baby, placed his hand over his wife Laura's mouth "to shut her up" as the couple drove on Interstate 595 in Davie, police said. The rapper admitted ripping out some of her hair, but said he did so to keep her from jumping out of the truck's window, police said.

    His wife told police she feared her husband and that the couple's children witnessed the offence. Vanilla Ice, 32, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, was arrested Wednesday and released from Broward County Jail the following day on US$3,500 bail.
