ABC radio disc jockey at Half Moon

WESTERN BUREAU:

FIVE MONTHS after tying the knot in Jamaica with fitness specialist Donna Richardson, America's four-time Billboard Magazine awardee and leading radio disc jockey, Tom Joyner is back to do business and have more fun.

Joyner, who hosts the Tom Joyner Morning Show on ABC Radio Network, arrived on island Saturday with a group of 50 media personnel for a retreat at the Half Moon hotel.

On Sunday, the Jamaica Tourist Board hosted the group to a welcome cocktail reception on the lawns of the beautiful Royal Villas at the Half Moon Club. Joyner, who has a listenership of over six million people, is known as a live wire, on and off radio. And he didn't disappoint his guests at the reception, when he danced and jumped to the drumming of the kumina by the 20-year-old group, Prince Teba and the Sons of Thunder.

While members of his team sat enjoying the show, Joyner walked the grounds mingling with visitors to the island.

He also showed appreciation for the Barbara Brown Revue, featuring fire-eaters, a 60-year-old acrobatic cyclist and the dancers, who gave their all in folk songs and adaptation of the traditional African dance moves.

A fashion show featured fabulous clothing and shoes from three of Jamaica's outstanding designers, Robyn Sweeny of 'Robyno'; Bridgette of Bridgette, Shoes and Kirk Taylor of Reggae to Wear.

Director of Tourism, Faye Pickersgill; Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism Dr. Wyckeham McNeil; Ambas-sador Frank Pringle and chairman of the Jamaica Tourist Board , Adrian Robinson, were there to welcome the disc jockey and the rest of the group.
