Seba blank Tivoli

WESTERN BUREAU:

MONTEGO BAY'S National Premier League clubs Seba United and Wadadah suffered mixed fortunes as the return round continued with a double header at Jarrett Park yesterday.

Seba won for the first time in nine rounds with a good looking 2-0 win over Tivoli Gardens while Wadadah went down 3-0 to Hazard in the second game of the double.

Gregory Simmonds and Omar Daley gave Hazard a 2-0 lead at half time while Kirk Hendricks scored an own goal in the second half to complete a miserable evening for the Wadadah team.

Seba United's coach Bill Moravek was a relieved man following his team's win over the highly rated and back to full strength Tivoli Gardens who had lost at the same venue in their previous visit, 1-0 to Wadadah.

He told members of the press that he had returned to the 5-3-2 formation the team seem to prefer and it bore results.

While it was the debut of 20 year-old Tanzanian Kalimangonga Ongala that most of the fans came out to see, it was another debutant that covered himself with glory.

Former Altowbar and Wadadah striker Lennox Whittingham scored with his very first touch, in the 80th minute to secure the win for the Montego Bay team after Brian Hill had given them the lead in the 10th minute with a header.

The Tanzanian who formerly represented Kajumulo FC in his native country and who has lived and played in Seattle in the United States, added a lot of quality to the Seba attacking force with a number of good runs and crosses and has a presence around the penalty area.

He looked short of conditioning however but will be a force to be reckoned with when he gets to full fitness.

Hill scored his first goal of the season when he glanced a free kick from Steven Malcolm past goalkeeper Edsel Scott and into the far corner of the goal.
