THERE is at least one person who has won deejay Bounty Killer's admiration in recent times. That is Roy Francis, owner of the Mixing Lab studios and its recording label.
Bounty has recorded a single named Roy on Francis' new rhythm, 20/20, which is probably the hottest new rhythm in the record shops right now.
Francis has been a very good friend of the DJ for years. He is highly respected by most artistes and it really shouldn't be surprising that Bounty shows this much affection, even though the 20/20 rhythm also features Cecile.
Also on the rhythm are promising female singer Fiona, Elephant Man, Capleton, Harry Toddler, Madd Anju, Black Rat, Mr Lex, Mr. Vegas, Junior Kelly, Hawkeye, Danny English, Nitty Kutchie, Assassin and Buccaneer.
TOK to work on debut album
T.O.K. will be teaming up with New York-based producer Salaam Remi when they visit the United States next month to produce a couple of tracks for their long-awaited debut album.
The group, which is being handled by hot dancehall producer Richard "Shams" Browne, will be visiting Los Angeles and Minnesota in December.
In the meantime, they have three hot singles being readied for resale. These are: Shake Your Bom Bom for Shams, Hey Gal for Jeremy Harding and Chi Chi Man, produced by Tony Kelly for Loy Productions.
New singles from Stone Cold Records
Mark Hudson says his Stone Cold Records has been working on a new set of singles for the past eight months on a rhythm called Highway.
He says that by affording the project so much time, they were able to come up with superior productions. That's something the industry should take note of.
The rhythm features Fiona, Cecile, Mr. Vegas, Chuck Fender and others. It was created by Ward 21.
Booking deal for Gregory Isaacs
Gregory Isaacs has inked a booking deal with Yolande Rattray Wright's The Wright Agency.
Rattray Wright says she has been working on-and-off with the veteran singer for the past five years, even while he was still managed by Don Taylor.
"I've always done bookings for Gregory in certain parts of the world, but the time has come for us to really formalise the agreement," she said.
