KWL wins in New Orleans

KINGSTON WHARVES Limited walked off with the Best Exhibit Award at the first ever Caribbean Shipping Association's business exposition, 'Shipping Insight 2001', which took place in New Orleans, Louisiana in the United States recently.

Fifteen delegates to the Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA) 30th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition visited the inaugural 'Shipping Insight 2001' at the Royal Sonesta Hotel, the site of the CSA Conference and made critical assessment of displays put on by eight exhibitors from different countries.

The 15 CSA delegates who handed in nominations were selected at random from the official list of participants attending the conference. Jamaica had three among the eight eligible exhibitors.

Based on quality of display and content, Kingston Wharves emerged winner with a simple display, which presented a clear, concise message with appropriate graphics to support and reinforce the message.

David Yee Sing and Angela Jackson, from Kingston Wharves' Marketing Department, manned the Company's display at one of the largest CSA meetings in that Association's 30-year history.

More than 300 delegates and spouses registered for a Conference which featured top quality papers, presentations and panel discussions involving many of the leading individuals and companies in the shipping industry across 17 countries in the Caribbean, South, Central, and North America.

CSA membership comprises all four language groups with English being the official language. Indeed, the major shipping lines serving the Caribbean are members of the CSA (Group C), as are the major freight movers in the major cities in and around the Caribbean Region.

The Kingston Wharves team was therefore able to present its message about the Company's efficiencies, capability and services, with the effective use of video, still photography and posters, to a broad cross-section of companies and individuals at the decision-making end of the shipping business.

The Best Exhibit trophy was presented to the Kingston Wharves team at the CSA' s Annual Banquet, at the Royal Sonesta Hotel on Tuesday October 24, 2000.
