THE MULTICARE Technology in Educa-tion Project has donated a computer laboratory with 20 computers, two printers and one server to the Church Teachers' College in Mandeville.
The second of two computer labs at Church Teachers' College, the MultiCare Technology lab has provided computer access to all 364 students at the college. Before, the lab was to a large extent only for those specialising in computer studies.
The college is one of four teacher training colleges and two schools in the island to have received computer laboratories under the MultiCare Technology in Education Project, which will also see the installation of computer labs in additional teacher training colleges and two primary schools.
The MultiCare Technology in Education Project is jointly sponsored by the MultiCare Foundation and the HEART Trust NTA, and was established in February 1999 in collaboration with the Jamaica Computer Society Education Foundation, which is administering the project, and the Institute of Education of the University of the West Indies Joint Board of Teacher Education.
According to principal of the college Mrs. Beverly Minott, "The MultiCare Technology lab has facilitated our vision to bring the computer to all our students and staff. We are now looking at various modes of delivery such as computer-aided learning to enhance our capabilities".
