Vulnerability of US electoral process exposed

THE EDITOR, Madam:

THE WHOLE world watched amazed as the vulnerabilities in the United States electoral process manifested themselves. Since then many anti-American sentiments have been echoed, as the 'Third World' revels in a false pride and confidence, watching the US swim in unmentionables so familiar to the South.

Somehow however, I believe that the US will lick its wounds and learn from its mistakes; something Jamaica has failed to come to grips with.

It must be realised that mistakes are inevitable and democracy promises not fair and fast elections, but fair and accurate. What sits in the Florida Supreme Court is not the shame of a technological giant but the battle of truth over technological incapacity. The United States must be praised for encouraging such a bout.
