COURTNEY WALSH leaves the island early next month for Australia but, before he leaves, he will be sharing some "Good Times" at the Countryside Club on Saturday, October 28.
Courtney is behind the event, "Celebration Caribbean Style," which he hopes will show fans of Jamaican music, as well as cricket, that he really appreciates they way they have been supporting him over the years.
Courtney, as most of us know, frequents major music spots, especially on oldies nights. He will be joined by Skyy Disco's Squeeze and sports broadcasters Neville "Bertis" Bell and Simon Crosskills on this event.
Incidentally his birthday is October 30.
Winning the girls
Krayzie Hype told us recently that he has stopped winning girls with his real name.
What does he mean? Well Krayzie's real name is Ian Ramsay, and as he confessed: "I used to tell the girls that Ian Ramsay(the famous lawyer) was my father."
Now the deejay from Thompson Pen, Spanish Town, says he doesn't need to do that anymore. The name Krayzie Hype and his music are now winning him all the girls he can handle.
Hype, formerly of the Sample Shade Crew, is now with Delon Reid's Manatee Crew, which also includes Risto Benjie, L.T.(Roger Stephens) and Frass Man(Nicoy Salmon). His new single on Reid Mad Dogg label is Money A Fi Mek.
Gregory's booking deal
Gregory Isaacs has inked a booking deal with Yolande Rattray Wright's The Wright Agency.
Rattray Wright says she has been working on-and-off with the veteran singer for the past five years, even while he was still managed by Don Taylor.
"I've always done bookings for Gregory in certain parts of the world, but the time has come for us to really formalise the agreement," she said.
Red Rat on tour
Following the successful launch of his sophomore album, I'm A Big Kid Now(Greensleeves), Red Rat took off on a two-month North American and European tour.
On Sunday he was live with Bobby Konders on Hot 97 FM in New York and he will be in the tri-state area until October 23, doing radio and Internet interviews, after which he heads out to Los Angeles to appear on the popular "Steve Harvey Show."
Dawya Ranks' poke at Beenie man
Seems like every week we hear about another upcoming act who kicks off with a big name act who wants to "bust."
This time it involves DJ Dawya Ranks, who says he has written a tune called "Career," off a recent encounter with Beenie Man at the Olympia Crown Hotel in Kingston. Seems like Beenie Man was disinclined to hand him the mike. The videoman picked it up and ran with it on community cable. Next thing we knew, Dawya was making this tune Beenie Man claiming, "Beenie Man waan stop me food."
