WESTERN BUREAU:
WADADAH won for the first time this season in the National Premier League (NPL), scoring a 3-1 come from behind win over arch-rivals Seba United in the Montego Bay derby at Jarrett Park.
Former national striker Markino Gillings scored twice and Durrent Brown the other as Wadadah exploded for three goals in the first 21 minutes of the second half after Iton Scott had given Seba the lead with a torrid free kick in the first half.
Both teams came into the game near the bottom of the point's tables and desperate for a win but it was Wadadah who looked the better team and took the fight to Seba from the start.
Despite the win, Wadadah are still rooted near the bottom of the points tables in eighth place with six points, just one point and one place behind their Montego Bay neighbours.
Seba were reduced to 10 players midway the first half when captain and centre half Christopher Harris was sent off by referee Clive Wright after he brought down Oniel Thomas with a high tackle.
Despite down one man, it was Seba that took the lead in the 41st minute when Scott beat Warren Barrett with a peach of a free kick that lodged into the top right hand corner of the goal.
Gillings brought Wadadah level in the first minute of the second half when he rifled home past Kenrick Picknight after the Seba defense had failed to clear a cross from the right hand side.
Gillings gave his team the lead in the 60th minute when he again exploited the suspect Seba defence, created some space before powering the ball into the far corner.
Durrent Brown put the icing on the cake in the 66th when he scored a goal worthy of any international stage. Playing at right back position, he dribbled into the Seba half and seeing Picknight off his line, rifled a shot from some 25 yards into the far corner of the goal.
Barrett who has been having an indifferent season came good late in the game to block Wilfred Smith twice, both after the Seba player had shaken off the Wadadah defence and had the goalkeeper at his mercy.
