'Sizzling' Melody

SINGING Melody, the artiste whose hit single Say What has been in the top 10 for the past month, is turning up the heat with a string of sizzling performances.

"At Melody's performance in Cayman recently, he displayed maturity in his performance, and had the females in the audience in a swoon. The promoters have even called in to compliment him on his professionalism. I am pleased with Melody's progress and he is growing from strength to strength," Yolande Rattray-Wright of the Wright Agency told VZ.

Hot carnival on the 'Hill'

The annual Notting Hill Carnival which is held in England was a huge success as a flood of people inundated the streets of London.

"The Notting Hill carnival has a nice international vibe going on with it. There were thousands of persons from different backgrounds and classes in one place, and on every corner, there was a different sound system, one might be playing techno, another one strictly Studio One rhythms, the other a different genre. It has a nice flavour where you can taste a whole lot of things at one time," Sean Paul said.

Sean Paul performed alongside artistes such as De La Soul, Red Rat, and Spragga Benz during the carnival, a portion of which was filmed by the BBC.

Red Rat's album launch

Red Rat's album, I'm a Big Kid Now will have its official launch at the snazzy Crowne Plaza hotel on September 27.

"I want this launch to be totally different. I want to divert from the norm so there will be a one-hour media one-on-one with me so that the journalists can privately interview me about various issues," said Red Rat who sold over 100,000 copies of his debut Greensleeves album.

This latest effort is produced in collaboration with BRAT Productions and features singles like Put Yuh Hand Up and a tribute to his daughter called 'Taiye'. It will be distributed by Greensleeves Records world-wide, and locally by All Access Entertainment.

Nikesha the next Millie Small?

Have you heard the latest version of that Millie Small's My Boy Lollipop single? The single was recorded by Nikesha, a 15 year-old Jamaican female, who is presently residing in the USA.

"The response has been phenomenal so far. The single was mixed by Dave Kelly and the harmonica sound that was done by a musician who plays for Gloria Stefan, and mixed by Willie Lindo but remixed by Sly and Robbie. It is a well-worked single. And she sounds exactly like how Millie sounded when she just started," road manager Milton Simms said.

Nikesha's new album, with a number of originals, is expected to be out soon.

Alozade enjoys top ten spot
