JAAA should clarify selection procedures

THE EDITOR, Madam:

THERE ARE many persons, including myself and at least two important female athletes, who thought that our national championships were the 'official' trials which could guarantee automatic selection to the final Olympic team.

But this does not seem to be the case probably the size of our county dictates otherwise.

However, the JAAA ex abundanti cautela, should issue a statement on the policy of selection to avoid further confusion, speculation and indeed embarrassment to the parties associated with the misunderstanding.

I am, etc.,

V. E. 'RUKSHUS' MUIR
