Bounty Killer and Merciless record together

Bounty Killer (left) and Merciless

RIVAL DJs Bounty Killer and Merciless have teamed up to do a song No One Cares.

This comes as a surprise to many who have not forgotten Sting '97 when Bounty Killer walked on stage while Merciless was performing. Bounty's fans claimed the Killer 'slew' Merciless and for weeks promoters tried to avoid clashes on stage between both performers.

Now, three years later Bounty Killer and Merciless have gone into Studio 2000 and recorded a song which is said to be doing well internationally.

Producer of the song, Gadaffi, who operates from Annex Recording Company, Kingston, is happy about this combination.

"This is the first time the two deejays have combined their talents in a song which sends out a positive message."

Gadaffi said the song has entered the Black Echo Top 10 chart in England where it was released two weeks ago and was doing well in Japan.

The link between the performers was cemented about five months ago when Merciless met Bounty at one of the Killer's haunts on Eastwood Park Road, Kingston. There they began to hammer out the first couple of lines of the song.

Gadaffi said: "People are accustomed to hearing Bounti Killer defending the poor and Merciless talking about Mama Cooking. But listening to the latest song, one cannot help but notice how different it is from the many songs which have been declared Not Fit For Airplay."

Merciless said the song was a true reflection of what was happening in the island's inner-city communities. "When things going on in the ghetto is afta a man dead police a come. They (police) should be present when things happening. It took Bounty and me about 20 minutes to complete the entire song."

The following are some of the lyrics:

"Tricks and card unnu draw to be wise

Starve we fi more den sey unno economise

A heads a government wi come ya fi chastise

House a Parliament we come to clout down to size

Full time politicians dem fi realise

Dem bwoy de fi know sey we and dem no have no ties."
