Prendy's questions motives

Published: Monday | October 26, 2009

Donnette Prendergast, managing director of Prendy's On the Beach, located on the Hellshire Beach, has questioned the Portmore Municipal Council's motives for wanting to get control of the beach. "If they are going to take control of the beach, make sure that they have the people's interest at heart," she said.

Prendergast, who is also a member of the Half Moon Bay Fishermen's Co-operative, said if the council's intention of setting up a management structure that includes the co-operative is genuine, then such a move would be worthy of consideration. But, it would have to be presented in black and white. "I would want to see a document; a memorandum of understanding that can be signed off on," said Prendergast, who resigned from the co-operative's executive about two years ago.
