The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) has announced tourism and entertainment business mogul, Christopher Blackwell, as its 2009 inductee for the PSOJ Hall of Fame.

Blackwell is the founder and chairman of Island Outpost and has been involved in the entertainment and tourism industry for over 40 years.

He was instrumental in the careers of renowned Jamaicans Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Toots and the Maytals, as well as Third World.

The businessman is the owner of the Firefly and Goldeneye properties in St Mary, as well as the Strawberry Hill Hotel & Spa property located in the hills of St Andrew.

In a statement this week, the PSOJ noted that the Hall of Fame award was established in 1992 to recognise Jamaican business persons who have made significant contributions to the development of the country and the private sector.

The award will be presented at a function in Kingston next month.
