A confused atheist

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I read the article 'Christianity, Rastafarianism and atheism' (May 21) and found the author extremely confused.

He claims to be an atheist. He does have some idea what atheism entails but he doesn't understand the power of nature itself. The earth will never be a paradise, at least for human life. We cannot turn back the clock and we cannot advance the future. The inevitable must happen. Nature will always have its way. Nothing remains the same. The world as we know it will change due to human interference and also by way of nature's activities. This process will never stop.

Man cannot stop change and man is not in control of nature. As a matter of fact, nature controls man. Humans developed from nature and must return to nature. All social scientists, including theologians, believe this. The Bible said man was made from the dust of the earth and the evolutionist believe man evolved from nature. This is the crust of the matter.

Unique and complete

To think that God doesn't exist is mad. Of course, there is a superior being to humans. Everything couldn't just fit in so neatly, so completely. Everything is unique and complete in its own way. Surely, there is a master artisan who controls it all somewhere.

Evolution couldn't have made everything so complete and complementary. Nature is ever so balanced. It has its own way of healing itself, of rebelling when disturbed or showing tranquility when at peace. This evolutionist story is utter nonsense. What existed a billion years ago? Only man's ignorance. Darwin and his cronies are only good fabricators of the impossible and even all these highly learned sceptics cannot provide an answer as to how it all fit together so neatly.

Finally, nature, not religion, not atheism nor agnostic beliefs will reign supreme.

I am, etc.,
