The school, located in Bull Savannah, a popular farming community in the parish of St Elizabeth, received $2.5 million from the National Commercial Bank (NCB) Foundation to complete the lab.
The computer lab will provide an opportunity for the students to be certified in information technology and acquire skills to enhance their competitiveness in the 21st century.
Persons from the surrounding communities will also have the opportunity to access the facility, as the school will also use the lab as an Internet café.
There was a celebratory mood as the students followed their school's marching band from the auditorium where the formalities were staged to officially open the doors of their new computer lab.
Father Samuel Allogia, principal of the school, said "We, at St Vincent Strambi are very grateful for the support and aid provided by the foundation. This new computer lab will not only help our students to perform better in life, but will also be a great means of research for our rural community of south St Elizabeth, especially in this period of recession."
According to Carlos Gordon, branch manager, NCB Junction, "the foundation continually seeks to improve education in Jamaica by providing opportunities and resources to assist young persons in maximising their potential and becoming active citizens in the nation building process."
