A number of quarter-final spots will be decided in today's final round of matches, in the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA)/Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) Open League competition, at the Leila Robinson Courts.
In the day's feature game, Open Rally champions Waulgrovians 'A' and Alexander Strikers will battle in Zone One, a top-of-the-table clash starting at 6:10p.m. A win for either team will see them advancing to the next stage.
Also at the same time, Arnett Gardens will battle Hampshire 'A' in a Zone Two decider, while Super League champions Jamalco will be hoping to secure their berth from Zone Three, when they face Maxfield Park. Leiba Gardens will also play Maverley 'A'.
Other games
Meanwhile defending champions Tivoli Gardens 'A' and Police 'A' will meet in a Zone Five decider, starting at 5:20 p.m. Other games to be played then are Jetsetters 'A', who have already booked their place in the quarter-finals, facing Ebony Strikers, Skibo 'A' opposing Boulevard Baptist and Jamaica Fire Brigade going up against Omega 'A'.
Simone Forbes, captain of Waulgrovians 'A', said they won't be taking their opponents lightly.
"We are very confident in each other and our abilities to execute whenever we are out there, despite whom we are playing," said Forbes, who is also the captain of the national senior team.
Forbes added that they are aware of the dangers their opponent pose, but said her team is ready and raring to go.
"We are going out there to play hard because we are not going to take them lightly and once we do this then we should be able to win the game," she said.
Her opposite number, Latoya Thomas of Alexander Strikers, is hopeful.
"It is going to be a very competitive game because despite them (Waulgrovians) being a Super League team, we are going out there to do our best," said Thomas.
"We are coming to play hard because we are not any pushover," she said.
Barrett added that her players are also hoping to gain a lot of experience from the game, which is part of their build-up for the upcoming divisional leagues.
