Jamaica Broilers won the Business House Cricket Association's 35-over KO cricket competition last Sunday when they defeated Jamalco by 39 runs in the final at Kensington Park.
Broilers will go in quest of a second title today when they oppose St Ann Jamaica Bauxite in the Best Dressed Chicken 30-over KO final at Kensington Park, starting at 11 a.m.
The following Sunday, December 21, both teams are scheduled to meet again in a Reggae Jammin 50-over semi-final at Jamaica Broilers ground, Spring Village in St Catherine. The winners will meet defending champions Cable & Wireless.
Batting first last Sunday, Jamaica Broilers raced to 196 for seven off their allotted 35 overs.
Andrew Davis led the scoring with 63, while Wayne Morgan chipped in with 42 and Peter Caballero 25 against Errol Thomas, 2-36, and the veteran spinner Collis Johnson, 2-41.
In rely, Jamalco were bowled out for 157 off 33 overs with Dwight Stewart scoring 39 not out, Thomas 36 and Kevin Dennis 13. Robert Turner, the Broilers captain, captured 4-24.
Cable and Wireless rebounded from their loss to Jamaica Broilers the previous week with a 13-run victory over St Ann Jamaica Bauxite in the Digicel 20/20 final at Kaiser in St Ann last Sunday.
Batting first, C&W made 120 for eight off their 20 overs - Yannick Elliott getting 23, Andre McCarthy 20 and Damion Jacobs 17 - all are Melbourne Super League players.
Former Jamaica left-arm spinner Andre Dwyer took 3-19 and Junior Bromfield 2-12.
St Ann Bauxite, in reply, reached 107 for six when their 20 overs ran out. Former national player Orville Pennant and Marlon Pinnock made 34 each and Gary Williams 14, against Jacobs, 2-31, and Elliott, 1-23.
