Yesterday, a Gleaner Western Bureau team hit the streets and asked: Should Dr Peter Phillips resign from the PNP or remain to help rebuild the party?

Roy Eadman,delivery man:

I think Peter Phillips should stay and help to build and reunite the party. He should not leave just because he lost the presidential election.

Keisha Orridge, unemployed:

He should go. Although I am not too into Portia, I believe Peter wouldn't do any better.

Donna Grizzle,self-employed:

Peter must 'tek weh himself' from the party. He should go because he is no better than Portia Simpson Miller as a leader.

Dennis Wauliss, businessman:

Knowing the type of person Peter Phillips is, I know he will remain with the party. He wants to rebuild the PNP. The delegates have spoken and I know Mrs Simpson Miller understands the value of having Peter within the party, so hope she will make the right decision on the matter.

Ronald Jones,concerned citizen:

He should stay and help the party to rebuild, and based on his years of experience with the PNP, he can contribute to the rebuilding process. The party belongs to all PNP members, not ones on the left or ones on the right.

Howard Tomlinson, aviation firefighter:

If he wants to go, then that would be his decision. But Peter is an integral part of PNP in terms of writing policies and policy decision. It is better for him to stay to help unite the party.
