Letter - 'Clarke in charge'
published: Friday | August 29, 2008

Clarke

THE EDITOR, Sir:

You have made a serious error in The Gleaner of August 27 (page D2), which we are asking you to retract.

The last sentence in the third paragraph of the article titled, 'Bill Clarke's last hurrah' states:

"Replacement Bruce Bowen is in place at the bank's corporate headquarters on the Kingston waterfront, and, according to bank sources, already running the show."

Contrary to your source, Bowen is not 'in place at the bank' as yet, and the 'show' is still being run by Bill Clarke.

As your article reported, our news release on the performance of the bank quoted Bill Clarke which makes it clear that he is still at work and remains in charge of all operations of the bank until October 31, 2008.

Joylene Griffiths-Irving

Director - Public, Corporate

and Government Affairs,

Scotiabank Jamaica.
