Congrats Usain, but ...
published: Tuesday | August 19, 2008

THE EDITOR, Sir:

In my estimation, Usain's victory was a bittersweet experience!

Sweet because this is definitely a great victory for Usain, Jamaica and the entire Caribbean. But bitter because I really thought that he should have done better.

I cannot understand why Usain eased up before the end of the race.

He was running before the biggest and most significant competitive event in the world and should have given it 100 per cent and not slowed down at the end. A time of 9.69 is tremendous, but who knows, probably he could have run 9.60 and even under if he had pushed it on to the end.

Could push more

I know that he is still young and has far again to go, but who know what could happen before the next Olympics?

He should have given his best and put world record beyond the reach of anyone for a long long time to come!

I am, etc.,
