A fabulous week ahead
published: Friday | April 11, 2008

Chester Francis-Jackson, Contributor

Stephen 'Cat' Coore

My dears, it promises to be one fabulous week to come and then some!

An absolutely fabulous production will be held at the Indoor Sports Centre, at the National Stadium complex, tomorrow evening. Franchise-holders Pulse will be staging the Jamaican leg of the Miss Universe contest. With some 25 beauties vying for the coveted crown and the BMW sedan, y'all know we are talking one fab occasion and nothing else!

Anyway my daahlings, if 25 hot ladies are not reason enough to head over to attend, then my daahlings, the absolutely hot and fab entertainer, R&B sensation Keyshia Cole, will be the star performer in the house. She will belt out some of those fabulous contemporary arias that have brought her international acclaim and a number of Grammy nominations.

And so my daahlings, as we are talking hot like that. Come tomorrow, most eyes will be on the very leggy Shalome Campbell, Francine Hall, Adrianna Bryan, Borzana Jones, Rebecca Silvera, and, or April Jackson (no relation), to be the hot contenders for the prestigious crown.

All will be revealed

Pumpkins all will be revealed tomorrow night, with the fabulous Ms Cole, expected here in Kingston, tonight, so more anon.

And people are still talking about the party hosted last weekend by the fab couple of Mark and Diane McConnell, at their New Hall Farm home, over there near Bog Walk, in St Catherine.

Luvs, the buzz is this one was a study in haute-eleganza and nothing but, the guests, a virtual who's who of Jamaican high society and then some.

And speaking of fab parties and high society, wait for another, this time it will be in Montego Bay, with a sprinkling of the international jet-setters, and promises to be an outing of the snob register and the moneyed, so wait for it.

Still speaking of the beautiful people my dears, next Saturday, April 19, Montego Bay's leading cosmopolitan eatery and wine bar, Wine With Me, owned and operated by the gorgeous Cecile Leeve, will be raising the bar in food preparation and presentation. She will host visiting chef, Stefan Spath, regional executive chef, of the Couple's Resort chain, who will be cooking and serving up some of the master dishes for which he is celebrated. It promises to be another of those fabulous culinary events which has made glamour denizen the restaurant and wine bar, the toast of fab society.

Culinary cantatas

Pumpkins, this one promises to be the first of many culinary cantatas and is a must for those with that discriminating palate and an appreciation for the bounties of culinaria.

Come Sunday, April 20, it will be all about being here in Kingston, for the musical offering of the internationally acclaimed Dr Teresa Walters, as the celebrated concert pianist will be performing under the patronage of Rev Dr Byron Chambers, president of the Jamaica Methodist District, and Mrs Chambers, in a recital, come 5:00 p.m. at The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.

A celebrated performer on the world's concert stages, Dr Walters is the first American pianist invited by Hungary to perform three prestigious recitals honouring the anniversary of Franz Liszt's birthday.

In addition, she performed at Esterhazy Palace in Austria, under the patronage of Prince Anton Esterhazy, and was such a success, Austrian national television said of her, "She is that rare phenomenon - a pianist born to the instrument".

Lauded as one of the world's most significant pianists, she is said to create magic with the music, and in recent seasons she has performed on six continents and in all 50 states in the United States of America.

With her Jamaican debut expected to be an equally stellar musical treat, it is a must-attend for lovers of this genre.

Then, belated birthday greetings to former prime minister, The Most Honourable PJ Patterson, who celebrated his birthday yesterday, with a quiet celebration to follow at his upper St Andrew home.

Coore's special day

Belated wishes also to the talented Stephen 'Cat' Coore, who celebrated his special day last Sunday at his home in Florida with wife, Lisa, and their daughter.

Best wishes to the lovely Grace Silvera, who celebrates her special day today.

And warm greetings and best wishes to the gracious Laurel de Mercado, who celebrates her birthday next Thursday, April 17.

Happy birthday all around with Champagne toasts and Beluga treats.

And the farewell parties have already begun for the impending departure of David Hall and his lovely wife, Liz, as they get ready to leave our shores for Bermuda.

Indeed, we will miss them and wish them godspeed.
