Stomping at the stable
published: Friday | April 11, 2008

Latoya Grindley, Features Writer

Seems to be quite an engaging conversation as former prime minister P.J. Patterson has communications consultant Sonia Rickards' full attention.

Good company and fine entertainment are requisites for any successful party or lyme, and organisers of last Sunday's Ham Stables Stud Party made sure to add all the right ingredients.

Hosted at the stables in Port Henderson, St Catherine, this year's guests not only enjoyed the social scene but were a part of a fund-raising event. According to race horse owner and breeder, Howard Hamilton, this year's party had a slight difference to it, as guests were asked for the first time to make a contribution. Each guest was asked to contribute $3,500 towards a Freemason Lodge in Portmore.

The gates opened at 2 o'clock with persons enjoying ambience over food and drink while background music entertained. The party, however, stepped up a notch later in the evening when the Faces of Elite models showcased designs ranging from dresses to swimsuits.

Following the fashion show, it was time to hit the dance floor. The very few brave ones stepped on to the dance floor showing off their skills. Then, slowly but surely, the more 'reserved' could no longer resist the temptation and forgot all about their inhibitions. Music selector, DJ Squeeze, kept the vibe flowing with mixes of old-school reggae and soca tunes.

What better way to have fun than in the company of family and friends? Audrey Smith (second right) is all smiles while resting her head on her beau, Derrick Brandt. Joining them are Annette Frater (second left), Carol Bravo (left) and Helen Meghoo.
