Accused in cop's killing remanded
published: Friday | April 11, 2008

The three men charged with the murder of 22-year-old Constable Andre Chung, who was attached to Special Branch, appeared Wednesday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

Senior Resident Magistrate Glen Brown remanded them until April 27.

The accused men are Christopher Thompson, Danill Powell and Rash-Amin Brown of Kingston addresses.

It was reported that, on March 4, the policeman boarded a taxi after attending classes at the Chinese Benevolent Society. The next morning, the policeman's body with several bullet wounds was found on Tavistock Terrace, Jacks Hill, St Andrew.

The Crown is alleging that, as part of a plan to rob people, a car was rented and used as a taxi. It is further alleged that, when Constable Chung boarded the taxi, he was robbed of his service revolver and then shot dead. The motor car, with bloodstains inside, was subsequently found.

Investigations by members of the Major Investigations Task Force led to the arrest of the three men.
