Imminent recession?
published: Friday | April 11, 2008

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE INTERNATIONAL Monetary Fund is suggesting that a recession of the world economy including the United States is imminent. This does not bode well for Jamaica.

However, the Government of Jamaica could do the smart thing; it can rigorously pursue alternative energy now instead of waiting for prices to increase and become more prohibitive. Here's a thought - it could invest a large portion of the money that was recently forgiven by the United Kingdom Government in this venture. This will have direct and indirect positive impacts on the economy, health, food, transportation and so much more.

I am, etc.,
