NOTE-WORTHY: Due diligence
published: Friday | April 11, 2008

Due diligence

It's so unfortunate for those folks that invest their money with such unethical business persons. As a financial adviser I must say, with any such investments, full disclosure and due diligence is a must.

I believe the only real alternative and the only way to get any real justice out of the whole situation is to sue not only the culprits but the regulatory agencies and the Government, because their job is to protect the interest of the general public and, in this case and most other cases they have failed to act in the public's best interest. This situation should have been addressed five years ago.

Two-way street

If we have any hope of improving the state of education in our schools we must start at home. Parents must instill the values of learning to their children. Education is like building a house - without a solid foundation we will have problems down the road. Teachers must be held accountable, but so should parents; teachers don't fail students, parents do. Students who want to learn will do so. Sure, we don't have all we need but learning is a two-way street.

Fight the war!

As a Jamaican by descent, I love this country so much I would give my life to see an end to the constant waste of lives of Jamaicans by their own Jamaican brothers and sisters. How long are we going to continue to allow this carnage of human beings' lives.

There is a war going on in Jamaica and the Government needs to fight it as a war. Until then, our beautiful country cannot move forward to prosperity for all Jamaicans. Make a move now and stop this waste of human lives by the few criminals who are hell-bent on destroying Jamaica, and if this continues they will succeed. God bless Jamaica.

August Town challenge

The new Government has been given a challenge by the criminals of August Town. If the Government does not take up and solve this challenge to their authority, then it will be hard for me to have any confidence that the crime problems can be brought under control. I am quite aware of the need for the Government to work within the framework of the law, but saving the lives of law-abiding citizens is first and foremost.
