Antonio McKoy, chief executive officer of Le'Antonio's Roofing and Construction Limited, is developing a 33-town-house complex in Porto Bello, Montego Bay, targeted at a high-income market.

McKoy says the project, Porto Bello Gardens, is a $500 million investment in the dormitory community.

McKoy has priced the three-bedroom townhouses at US$250,000 (J$17.78 million). Each unit is 1,655 square feet.

The complex also comprises a landscaped park, featuring a clubhouse, swimming pool, tennis court, multi-purpose court, and "a gazebo for those family barbecues," said McKoy.

Along with the units, the developer is also selling 21 serviced lots, each about a quarter acre in size, for US$45,000 J$3.19 million).

"The buyers will purchase the land and enter into an agreement with us. They will have the opportunity of choosing any designs they might desire," said McKoy, referring to lot purchasers who want to build their own owns.

While the service lots are now on sale, McKoy said construction of the units would begin in six months with the first phase projected to be completed by next year and the second by 2010.

First development

This is the first development for McKoy, a 29-year-old who has formal training in marketing and whose company was formed just one year ago.

McKoy said the development has received all the required subdivision and other regulatory approvals from the Real Estate Board and the St James Parish Council.
