Police Constable Richard Pearce, who is charged jointly with another man for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, is to return to the Yallahs Resident Magistrate's Court on April 2 when his trial will continue.
Also charged is contractor and farmer Donald Walker, othewise called 'Ice', of Spring Gardens, St Thomas.
The Crown is alleging that, after Constable Pearce was charged earlier this year with carnal abuse allegedly involving a 13-year-old girl, her relatives were asked not to proceed with the case.
A report was made to the police and Constable Pearce and Walker were arrested and charged.
Resident Magistrate Frank Williams extended their bail when they appeared in court on Tuesday.
Constable Pearce was committed last month to stand trial in the St Thomas Circuit Court on the carnal abuse charge.
The Crown is alleging that, in December last year, Pearce, who was stationed at the Yallahs police station, offered a 13-year-old girl a ride while she was on her way from school.
He took the girl to a lonely area where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
The matter was reported to the police and statements were collected and submitted to the director of public prosecutions, who ruled that Pearce should be charged.
Pearce was arrested and charged by Detective Sergeant Bertlan Reynolds.
