CASTRIES (CMC):
The British national in charge of the St Lucia Police Force says he will issue a statement shortly amid press reports that the island could be facing a national security dilemma as a result of dissension within the police ranks.
Deputy Police Commissioner Hermangild Francis, who is now on pre-retirement leave, has called on Prime Minister Stephenson King to meet with senior officers to discuss the issue.
"A lot of persons have suggested that I should be given an extended period of two years as the commissioner, but I am not really interested in being commissioner per say, what I have seen is that the police force needs a lot of help and whatever position I am asked to serve, be it as an adviser or even as a deputy to one of the locals, then I think it can work," he said.
