Issue: The church should issue condoms
published: Saturday | February 9, 2008

Abortion has been done by many Jamaicans. It is one's right to do anything he/she wants to, as long as whatever being done is within the law.

How can the Church, therefore, decide what is done in everyone's life?

The Church must realise that it cannot continue to shape one's lifestyle. I am sure that there are many ministers of religion today who are putting pregnant unmarried women to sit at the back of church.

When is the Church going to find its real purpose in a society in which crime and violence is tearing away the fabric of our nation? It is time for the Church to move into the 21st century.

I want to see the Church start educating people about the consequences of unwanted pregnancy. Should not the Church start the progress by issuing condoms and not 'preaching fire and brimstone' in our nation,

What would Jesus do? Would he be condemning people who have done some sort of wrong?

The church needs to get more involved in social issues by becoming practical Christians and not just preaching the good news of Christ to the world and stop making people into what they want them to be. People are free to make their own choices.
