Mountain View's pain
published: Thursday | November 29, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

After reading your news report on Rohan Thompson, the father of four who was shot and killed by gunmen at 95 Mountain View Avenue, I was left saddened, angry and wondering when will the violence end.I was six years old when my parents moved my sister, nephews and niece from Harvey Road, Kingston, to 99 Mountain View Avenue. I lived there until I was lucky enough to emigrate to the United States at the age of 22. I'm now 46 years of age.

While growing up at 99 Mountain View Avenue, there were many times I thought I would never reach the age of 22. I've seen friends, neighbours and people I was not acquainted with lose their lives to violence. So it's been going on for some time. I would like to say to the family of Rohan Thompson, "Have faith and hold your head up." I will keep them in my prayers.

I am, etc.,
