A boy stood out among the men as 10-year-old Colin Daley Jr. came out the overall winner in the Jamaica Karting Association 2007 season at the Palisadoes Inter-national Raceway on Sunday.

Daley, who is supported by his father, Colin Sr., as mentor and chief mechanic, used his deft driving skills to amass the most points over the seven-race series.

Daley dominated the Rotax MiniMax class to take the overall title with 865 points, just five ahead of Joel Jackson and a further nine points ahead of Peter Rae.

"He listens well, is consistent and he is easy to train," said the older Daley when asked about his son's success.

He also added that training with more experienced drivers such as Peter Moodie Jr. and Martin Anderson has helped his son's learning curve.

The youngster is now preparing to compete in the Grand Nationals early next year in the U.S.A. The Grand Nationals is a major meet where all the top drivers for each class in the North America region compete against each other.

Sunday's meet was the seventh and final race in the 2007 season which begun in March and climaxed on the weekend with the racing of the Abe Ziadie Memorial Open Challenge.

Martin Anderson won that title out of the 27 competitors which included drivers as young as nine years matching their skills against the masters. Anderson also held off Peter Moodie Jr. to win the Rotax International class.

Like Daley, all Rotax class winners will be looking to compete at the Grand Nationals.
