Jockeys Larris Allen and Andrew Nunes, who rode PRINCESS ZANAI and PRINCESS LATOYA respectively in the 13th and final race at Caymanas Park on Saturday November 10, were summoned by the stewards last week Tuesday to explain their conduct during the race, both having been engaged in a horseback fight up the straight.
Significantly their mounts finished last and second to last in a field of 14, as victory went to highly fancied ACCOMPONG. The stewards felt the matter was so serious that they have referred the case to the full commission for further consideration.
Two-day suspension
On the same day, the stewards slapped leading jockey Omar Walker with a two-day suspension for careless riding aboard THUNDERSTORM, this starting tomorrow, while visiting Canadian-based Jamaican jockey, Kirk Johnson picked up two days and a $2,000 fine for careless riding aboard MACHISMO in the ninth on November 17, causing interference to the winner LEONIDAS in the last 150 metres.
Apprentice Oral Bennett was slapped with a three-day suspension and $3,000 fine for careless riding aboard the runner-up OLE KING COLE in the fifth race on November 17, this for causing interference to the eventual winner REGAL SERENADE and HEZA RANKING approaching the half-mile.
