27 candidates submit campaign expenses

The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) is reporting that only 27 of the 146 candidates who ran in the September 3, General Election have submitted details of election expenses.

To date, 14 candidates from the ruling Jamaica Labour Party have provided the EOJ with information on the amounts spent in the election. Of this number, nine are current Members of Parliament.

Notified EOJ

In terms of the People's National Party, 12 of its candidates, who were successful in the election, have notified the EOJ about the sums spent on their respective campaigns.

Raoul Alder, a candidate of a minor party who ran in St. Andrew North Eastern, also complied with the requirement to submit election expenses to the EOJ.

Prime Minister Bruce Golding and Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller are among the persons who submitted their reports.
