Dawn's naivety
published: Sunday | October 14, 2007

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Please allow me through the medium of your paper to voice my opinion on an article by Dawn Ritch in The Sunday Gleaner entitled 'I blame Bruce'.

I am a British citizen and have been living in Jamaica for five years, and though my knowledge of Jamaican politics is somewhat limited, as a past member of the British Labour Party, I have some knowledge of the parliamentary system.

I totally agree with the Rt. Hon. Dianne Abbot, who has been a British parliamentarian for quite a number of years, when she said on Both Sides of the Story, that being the Speaker of the House is a demotion.

So, when Ms. Ritch talks about placating Delroy Chuck, it only goes to show how naïve she is about politics and the British parliamentary system.

I am, etc.,
