Tournament MVP Stacy-Ann King heads six players from League champions Trinidad and Tobago selected in the 22-member West Indies Women's training squad to prepare for the 2009 Cricket World Cup.
King, an attacking left-handed middle order bat, scored the most runs in the League and also had the highest score of 83 against St Lucia.
She is joined by compatriots, winning captain Merissa Aguil-leira, Kirbyana Alexander, Lee Ann Kirby, Anisa Mohammed and Gaitri Seethahall, who was the leading bowler in League cham-pionship.
Experienced players
The squad was announced by chairman of the selection panel, Jeff Broomes at the closing ceremony of the rain-ruined West Indies Women's Championship at the Cave Hill campus of the University of the West Indies on Thursday night.
Experienced all-rounder Pamela Lavine heads five players from runners-up Barbados.
The others are captain Charlene Taitt, Danielle Small, Shakera Selman and the versatile Deandra Dottin, who are all all-rounders.
Four players, Cordell Jack, Julianna Nero, Nicole Samuel and Mellisa Belingy come from dethroned League queens, St. Vincent and the Grenadines with experienced opening bat Nadine George, fast-bowling all-rounder Philippa Thomas-Eudovic and the promising pacer Royline Cooper hailing from St. Lucia.
The exciting 16-year-old opener Stafanie Taylor and Chedean Nation are the selectees from Jamaica, while Afy Fletcher and Debbie-Ann Lewis are chosen from Grenada.
Trinidadian Neil Lashley has been named as the team's physio/trainer with Barbados' manager Christine Oladimeji serving as performance enhance-ment coordinator.
