Barbara Gayle, Staff ReporterThe man who allegedly shot and killed a bystander last week Saturday during a with a man of unsound mind has been offered bail in the sum of $500,000 with a surety.
He is Noel Hunter, 50, building contractor of Portmore, St. Catherine.
Hunter is charged with the murder of 22-year-old Cherrian Brown, of Chisolm Avenue, Kingston 13. Brown who recently graduated form the University of Technology was on her way from a meat shop when she was fatally shot.
The allegations are that last week Saturday, Hunter was driving along Chisolm Avenue when a man of unsound mind threw a stone at his motor car.
It is further alleged that during a between Hunter and the man of unsound mind, Hunter fired a shot from his licensed firearm which struck Brown who was nearby.
Attorney-at-law Bert Samuels who is representing Hunter asked the court to grant Hunter bail because he was not a flight risk.
Resident Magistrate Frank Williams granted Hunter bail and ordered him to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on September 12.
