Broken pipes anger Trelawny residents
published: Thursday | July 26, 2007

DUNCANS, TRELAWNY:

Residents of Duncans in Trelawny are fed up with the regular broken pipes on their main road, and are even more peeved now that the road through the town was recently repaved to highway standards, only to be dug up again in many areas because of those broken pipes.

According to the residents, broken pipes have been a problem for years, but in the wake of a US$40 million price tag to send gallons of water from Martha Brae along the highway, they are now even more upset.

The pipework is slated to end close to the St. Ann border and the pipes through Duncans should be replaced as part of the US multi-million-dollar development.

The residents want the National Water Commission (NWC) to remove the old pipes and then call in Cartelones, the road builders of the highway, to resurface the part of the road which was dug up.

They say they do not want the NWC to resurface the road, as it will not be done properly.
