A medical doctor, Paul Robinson, was freed of a rape charge in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court, on Tuesday, after the complainant, Marsha McLean, said she had no interest in pursuing the matter.
When the case came up for mention, Earl Delisser, attorney-at-law, told the court that an aspect of the case that he thought about had then manifested itself.
He then presented a letter to Resident Magistrate Lorna Errar-Gayle, who asked Ms. McLean whether she had indeed tendered the letter. She said yes.
The court enquired why she was dropping the case and was informed by the complainant that she was getting married shortly and a relative was 'filing' for her.
The court acceded to her request, and a 'no order' was made against the doctor.
The case has been before the court since late last year when the complainant reported to the police that she was sexually assaulted by Dr. Robinson, who, however, maintained his innocence.
