'St Bess'police take zero-tolerance approach to political motorcades
published: Wednesday | June 13, 2007

Neville Paul, Gleaner Writer

St. Elizabeth:

The St. Elizabeth police are warning that strong action will be taken against persons participating in political motorcades who sit on car windows and on top of vehicles.

Head of the St. Elizabeth police, Superintendent Howard Francis, said a zero-tolerance approach will be taken by the police against body protrusion in political motorcades.

Superintendent Francis said the practice was not only dangerous, but also illegal.

Car window warning

"I would want to warn persons engaged in this practice of sitting on car windows, on top of buses and trucks and on the sides of pick-ups, that this will not be tolerated on any political motorcades in the parish," said the Superintendent.

Superintendent Francis was speaking against the background of recent motorcades in the parish by the governing People's National Party and the opposition Jamaica Labour Party, where supporters were seen sitting on car windows and on top of buses and trucks.
